The trailer shows Kirby battling his old enemy, but it also implies that players might have to help rescue Kind Dedede after his defeat. Kirby sends Dedede flying, and that action has opened up a new world to explore. There's also a new character that will help Kirby on his quest, seemingly acting in a role similar to Elfilin in Kirby and the Forgotten Land.
With the announcement of Kirby and the World Beyond, Nintendo's plans for next year are starting to come into focus. The publisher now has multiple major first-party Switch 2 games planned, including Metroid Ravenous which releases on January 28. Additionally, Xenoblade Genesis and Pokemon Winds and Waves are both coming in 2027, though set release dates have not been confirmed. For those still on the fence about buying a Switch 2, it seems Nintendo is putting together a strong year for the system.
