Reports of an Avengers: Secret Wars filming delay have sparked concern among Marvel fans that the movie's release date could be pushed back.
This week, an array of Marvel movie insiders reported hearing that filming on Marvel's big Multiverse Saga finale will now begin later than planned, after previously being set to start last month.
Serial MCU tipsters Daniel Richtman, Alex Perez, and Apocalyptic Horseman appear to have independently verified that Secret Wars shooting will now take place early in 2027, likely in January, sparking concern among fans about the impact this hold up will potentially have.
It's worth making clear that Marvel is yet to give any official update on its production schedule, and it ultimately may not need to do so if there's no impact on Secret Wars' planned December 17, 2027 launch date. That said, the potential of the movie's shooting schedule changing has many fans questioning if the film can still be completed in time.
"Gives the cast time to promote Doomsday during this winter," Marvel fan BTSMGL wrote in one of several lengthy threads on reddit. "I'm not in a rush for Ghost Rider so as long as we get X-Men and BP3 still in 2028, I'm fine with this."
"A *lot* is riding on Doomsday," added vadermaulkylo. "They’re probably waiting to see how it's received before committing to anything. If Doomsday gets a bad critical and/or audience reception then that'll drastically change what they'd do in its second act film."
"I'm getting tired of waiting," concluded own-papaya-4264. "Secret Wars was announced in 2022 for Christs sake."
Principal photography for Avengers: Doomsday lasted five months from April to September 2025, with additional material believed to have been recently shot ahead of the film's December launch. In other words, Marvel has had just over a year to work with the bulk of its footage in post-production.
