Naruto began its run in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump as a manga series in 1999, and after 15 long years of serialization, the series finally reached its conclusion in Jump on November 10, 2014, with Chapter 700. With such a successful manga adaptation, it is no surprise to know that it received an anime adaptation, which also marked its conclusion in 2017, around 9 years ago.

It has officially been confirmed that the Naruto series is getting a new animated movie, which is set to be announced at New York Comic Con next month on October 10. This new movie is set to revive Team 7 after 9 long years of absence, and we absolutely cannot wait to see Kakashi, Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura make a comeback on the grand stage.
For years, the Naruto franchise was in dire need of a new direction. Even though the anime concluded its exciting run in 2017 and is still talked about to this day, Naruto's conclusion came before the media went mainstream. Had the series continued in today's era, the anime would have been significantly more popular, and that is precisely why many fans have been eagerly asking for a Naruto comeback. Masashi Kishimoto, the creator behind Naruto, dropped a manga one-shot focused on Minato after the worldwide popularity poll in 2023; however, nothing else has been released from this franchise. But now, it appears that that is set to change, and the Naruto franchise is being revitalized with a multitude of new projects.
The biggest upcoming Naruto project is a full revival of the series via an animated film. With a yet-unknown release date, this animated film is set to be announced on October 10, 2026, at the New York Comic Con panel, which was teased officially on the Naruto website, naruto-official.com. It is believed that there are other, more exciting projects that are going to be announced there as well, and we will also likely find out more information pertaining to the Naruto live-action movie, which is being handled by Lionsgate Studio.

While a live-action is certainly exciting, most fans are over the moon knowing that the original Naruto series is making a comeback. Alongside One Piece and Dragon Ball, Naruto is one of the three most influential anime to have ever been created, and for it to finally make a comeback with brand-new content is an absolute delight. For now, it remains unclear as to what this upcoming movie is going to be about, but since it is from the Naruto era, it most certainly will bring back Team 7 after a remarkably long period. Team 7 has not been seen active since the conclusion of the Fourth Great Ninja War, and now is the perfect time for Masashi Kishimoto to throw some focus on them once again, to delight the fans.
At this point in time, not much is known about the upcoming Naruto anime movie, which is likely to be released between 2027 and 2028. Once the New York Comic Con panel unveils more information to us, we can finally make an assessment of what the movie is going to be about. That said, there are some things that have previously been teased in regards to a Naruto anime return in 2023.
To mark the 20th anime anniversary of the Naruto anime, a new animated project featuring four new Naruto episodes was announced. This project was set between the Naruto and the Naruto Shippuden era, which means that it featured the pre-timeskip cast of the series. This project was, unfortunately, indefinitely delayed, and not much has been revealed to us about it ever since.
