Days after Insider Gaming published an investigation into Ultra Pro Wrestling, its creator sat down for over five hours to answer and respond to our report — but not to Insider Gaming.
The Hyperfocus Games founder declined to engage further with this publication, citing data protection, then answered the story on a YouTube channel that covers his game. Across two videos recorded over two days, he went through the article paragraph by paragraph.
Insider Gaming has since continued to review the project’s full development record: tens of thousands of internal messages spanning three and a half years, budget documents, executed contracts and federal trademark filings.
Parts of CEO Sam Vallely’s account are supported, but several of his central claims are contradicted by his own messages. And a number of the most serious questions were read aloud to him and never answered, or simply brushed aside.
On September 7, a further set of questions was sent to Vallely. Over a week later, he has not responded.
During his YouTube interview, Vallely gave a detailed explanation of how the AKI trademark application collapsed. A filing agent, he said, put his own contact details on the paperwork rather than the company’s, never forwarded correspondence from the trademark office, allowed the application to lapse, and then offered to fix it for “x amount of thousands of dollars.” He said the federal review now attached to the application exists because Hyperfocus reported the situation.
The public and private filings support this. The correspondence address of record is a house in Connecticut, while the contact addresses are generic filing-agent accounts. The first application was submitted unsigned, with fees paid for one class of goods against three. The suspension notice issued in March concerns “signatures, certifications, and representation of others before the USPTO,” and links applicants to the office’s guidance on trademark scams.
Vallely was also right about the status of his team.
