The first wave of games coming to PC and Xbox Game Pass in September have been revealed, and it's a little barren. Probably the highlight is the arrival of new RuneScape co-op survival game Dragonwilds.
Dragonwilds' arrival is quietly a rather monumental moment for RuneScape, for it represents the first time a RuneScape game has appeared on console. But to be clear: this is not the age-old MMO, it's a brand new open-world survival crafting game in the vein of Valheim or Enshrouded - that kind of thing.
Dragonwilds has been in early access testing since last spring, so this day-one Game Pass launch on 15th September represents its full 1.0 release, and it seems to have had pretty good feedback so far. Steam reviews for Dragonwilds are "very positive", and Lottie - our resident RuneScape super-nerd, she won't mind me saying - was very encouraged when she previewed RuneScape: Dragonwilds last year. Dragonwilds is coming to Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC by the way.
You might also find competitive co-op platformer SpeedRunners 2 of interest - the original had a good reception on Steam - and the delightfully dawn medieval roguelike deck-builder The Royal Writ, which was released late last summer on PC. That is unless you fancy playing six-year-old Call of Duty game Black Ops Cold War? No? Didn't think so.
What is worth noting, however, is the impending removal of a few big games from Game Pass. These include Cyberpunk 2077, Dead Cells, and Deep Rock Galactic Survivor - all well worth a go.
