Square Enix confirms Final Fantasy 7 Revelation release date

Square Enix has confirmed Final Fantasy 7 Revelation’s release date during a PlayStation State of Play live stream.

A new trailer for the third instalment in the FF7 remake trilogy confirmed that the final entry will release on April 8, 2027.

As previously, announced, FF7 Revelation will release for PS5, Xbox, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC simultaneously.

“Today we are thrilled to show you the world premiere of our gameplay footage, highlighting the exciting features you can experience in Revelation,” said game director Naoki Hamaguchi.

Square Enix shared the following new gameplay details on the PlayStation Blog:

Set in a vast open world realized on an unprecedented scale, Final Fantasy VII Revelation gives players new opportunities to explore the planet via the iconic Highwind airship.

Exploration extends beyond the Highwind, as players can once again rely on their trusty chocobo companion Piko, who this time serves as both a mount and combat ally. Piko will grow stronger alongside the party, gaining new capabilities that assist during both traversal and battle.

Combat sees significant expansion through the introduction of the new Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear, or the FITS System for short. FITS allows for customization of play styles with new uniforms imbued with unique move sets. There are four specialized FITS: Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. These FITS dramatically alter party members’ abilities and combat functions, creating new tactical possibilities.
