Yesterday, Nintendo surprised Mario Kart fans with a free Switch 2 update for the Switch game Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Apart from the ability to race with up to eight participants in local split-screen, there's also CameraPlay support, as well as resolution and load time improvements. YouTube channel 'ElAnalistaDeBits' has now shared a side-by-side video comparison, showing how the game now runs on Switch 2 compared to the Switch.

As a recap, MK8D on Switch is 1080p in docked, 720p in handheld, and runs at 60fps (with the frame rate halved in split-screen with 3-4 players). As for the game on Switch 2, as of Version 4.0.0, it's apparently 2160p docked and 1080p in handheld at a consistent 60fps. The frame rate is halved when playing 3-4 player splitscreen and the new eight-player split-screen mode.
