Final Fantasy 7 Revelation has made it abundantly clear throughout all of it's current marketing and trailers that customization is going to be key, whether that be the type of FIT you turn your characters into, or what party makeup you want to rock. And, we all know that any good customization system lets you slap a number of different outfits on your favorite characters.
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth understood this pretty well, giving players a bunch of unlockable outfits that you can earn by completing various activities. Revelation is promising to be the same, as it's already been confirmed by director Naoki Hamaguchi that Rebirth's popular swimsuit outfits will be available in Revelation. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about another much-requested set of outfits.
If you played Final Fantasy 7 Remake, you'll be well aware of Cloud and Tifa's outfits that they wear while trying to get to see Don Corneo in Wall Market. Tifa has a few to choose from, while Cloud sports a lovely dress regardless of the choices you make in the game. They're pretty fun outfits, and it sounds like many were hoping these outfits would cross over to Final Fantasy Revelation.
However, in a new interview between Hamaguchi and RPG Site, it's been revealed that these outfits won't be included in Revelation, and if you're upset about that, you have the game's motion programmers to blame.
"I know that a lot of fans have been asking for those outfits for Cloud and Tifa, but I will say that, unfortunately, no, the outfits they wore at Honeybee Inn and Wall Market will not be included as a skin," says Hamaguchi.
"We actually did want to have those skins implemented into Revelation, but because of them wearing dresses and heels, it’s very complicated from a development perspective to actually have that in — especially when it comes to combat. The motion artists said that they were strongly against having those skins in the game because of that."
Hamaguchi does attempt to soften the blow by revealing that there will be a lot more new outfits in Revelation, and they won't be specifically tied to the new FITS system, so that's something to look forward to at least. However, if you want to see Cloud in a dress, you'll have to make do with a Final Fantasy 7 Remake replay.
