God of War Laufey has rocketed to the top of the PS Store charts in dozens of countries, ahead of its release on 15th February.
Sony opened pre-orders for the game yesterday, and excellent new website PS Store DB reports that it already sits in second position in 44 of the official Sony storefronts it tracks.
In practically all those countries, it’s only being beaten by the upcoming GTA 6, and it’s the more expensive Digital Deluxe Edition – which comes with a few bonus items – that’s performing best.

It’s no surprise to see a God of War game selling well, of course, but there had been concern that this version – with its new protagonist – may not perform as well as its Kratos-led predecessors. So far, there’s no sign of that.
Sony’s yet to really get the marketing machine moving for God of War Laufey – that will likely happen closer to launch – but already it looks like it’s off to a strong start.
I do wonder why people pre-order games so far in advance on the PS Store, though? There’s no danger of the digital copies running out of stock, and you may as well make interest on your money until the very last moment, no?
