Capcom has shown ongoing support for the Switch 2 since it launched last June, and the next game it's releasing is Dragon's Dogma 2 in October.

In an interview with Japanese outlet Famitsu recently, the game's producer Naoto Oyama has revealed some performance details about this version of the game. While the title targets 30fps, frame generation will allow you to experience smooth visuals at the "equivalent" of 60fps.

It's not perfect, but it's the option is there, and it can be turned on and off at any time. Here's how it works in Dragon's Dogma 2 (via Nintendo Everything):

Naoto Oyama: In the Switch 2 version of Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen, the base frame rate is targeted at 30 FPS in both handheld and TV modes. If you turn on frame generation in this state, a function that interpolates frames will be activated, allowing you to play with smooth visuals equivalent to 60 FPS.

However, since this function interpolates between frames, there are times when interpolation is difficult in certain situations, and we have confirmed cases where a slight ghosting effect remains. Nevertheless, we judged that the overall gameplay experience would not be significantly impaired, so we made it possible for those who prioritize frame rate to turn it on. In the final product, you will be able to switch it on and off, but the demo version here has it fixed on. We would love to hear your impressions of playing in that state.

...Frame generation is a function that calculates and interpolates “what would happen if there was a frame here” between frames. The idea is that the whole thing, including this interpolation, is at 60 FPS...If the interpolated part is wrong, the display may break down slightly, but the overall frequency of this is very low, so when you play normally, the flaws in the interpolation are not noticeable, and we think you will be strongly impressed by how smoothly it moves

Oyama also notes how this is the "first time" Capcom has added this technology to one of its Nintendo Switch 2 games.

Capcom has a playable gameplay demo of Dragon's Dogma 2: Dark Arisen at the Tokyo Game Show this week. Yesterday, it also rolled out the character creator and storage app demo on the eShop, allowing players to create characters and transfer them over to the full game when it arrives.
