Xbox is officially adding one of the most requested features starting today for select players. Mythic Achievements have been confirmed for Xbox Insiders to access right now, allowing players to earn a special achievement for completing all other achievements in a given game. Additionally, for games that players have already completed all achievements on, a Mythic Achievement for that game will be retroactively issued.
Achievement hunting has been a popular pastime for Xbox gamers since the achievement system debuted on the Xbox 360 alongside Gamerscore. Since Xbox pioneered the achievement system, other competitors like Steam and PlayStation have introduced their own way of tracking player progress with Steam Achievements and PlayStation Trophies, respectively. Now, the system is coming full circle with Xbox adding its version of a feature PlayStation has included in its Trophy system since 2008.
An official blog post from Xbox confirmed the rollout of Mythic Achievements for Insiders starting today after the system was leaked earlier this month. Mythic Achievements serve a similar function to PlayStation's Platinum Trophies, rewarding players who fully complete a game with a unique indicator of their efforts on their profile. Xbox also confirmed that achievements added through post-launch updates or DLC won't be required for earning a game's Mythic Achievement.
Xbox has made it clear the goal of this addition is to celebrate the player's gaming history, and as part of this effort, games as far back as the Xbox 360 are eligible to earn Mythic Achievement status. Players who have already completed every achievement for an Xbox 360 game will find that they've earned its Mythic Achievement once they boot up their Xbox profile. What's more is that Xbox profiles will now include a Gaming tab that features achievement progress, Gamerscore milestone badges, and will display Mythic Achievements earned for their friends to see.

To help track progress towards an Xbox game's Mythic Achievement, players will be able to see a new progress bar at the top of a game's achievement list. This progress bar will also include the ability to filter original achievements from add-ons, giving players a clear picture of which achievements are still needed to reach Mythic status. This progress information will be available across Xbox pages, such as Guide and Achievement details, to help players jump right back into their achievement hunt easily.
Mythic Achievements are only available for Xbox Insiders right now, and it's unclear when the feature will launch for all users.
