GTA 6 Online Secrecy Compared To Coca-Cola Recipe

GTA 6 Online Secrecy Compared To Coca-Cola Recipe

It isn't a mystery that Rockstar is keeping Grand Theft Auto 6's online mode information locked down and going to great lengths to keep things out of public view until they're ready to show their work off. Now we've learned just exactly how the company that most recently released Red Dead Redemption 2 treats secrecy, thanks to details recently revealed from an employment tribunal.

Documents from the case, which involved testimony from 31 former employees, included discussions involving the upcoming online version of GTA 6 which has yet to even be revealed or confirmed whether it will be a standalone or existing mode.

While there isn't anything confirmed or finalized, the word is that GTA 6 Online servers would be delivered in a 32-player online format. Staff revealed the information within a private Discord Server. Since many workers at Rockstar must sign NDAs and legal documentation to preserve the sensitivity of the upcoming mode, this may come as a surprise.

As pointed out by Twitter user videotech, the documents highlighted the lengths that Rockstar is going to in order to prevent leaks. Comparing their protecting of the secrets of GTA 6's design, as being akin to Apple guarding the secrets of the iPhone or the way that companies like Coca-Cola can safeguard their formula.

At Rockstar, visitors to the development studio were almost always required to sign NDAs, contractors had been specifically kept within a certain breadth of communication, and things like remote work had been heavily restricted. As such, their internal IT prevented personal devices from being connected to systems. And privacy film was installed on office windows after drones were used to get a sneak peek of what was coming ahead of the November 19, 2026 release date.

Rockstar has mentioned that it employs an investigations team full-time in order to monitor and squash potential leaks of GTA 6. This could be deemed a response that was shaped by the massive breach from 2022, when what started as a phishing attack exposed internal Slack channels, development footage, and more.

All of that, despite being quite an older iteration of the game, is still being combed through by hungry GTA fans with a fine-tooth comb. Despite all this effort and seeming overcorrection in behavior from Rockstar, many leaks have revealed alleged map details, TikTok viral hits making their appearance as songs, and gameplay details of the upcoming online mode that, judging by these documents, are intended as Rockstar's most closely guarded secret.
