Final Fantasy 14 Fans Wants Crucible Rankings Scrapping Following Postponement

Final Fantasy 14 Fans Wants Crucible Rankings Scrapping Following Postponement

Final Fantasy 14 is now in its semi-drought period before the next expansion, Evercold, actually releases. Of course, there are a couple of new additions to come in the meantime, one of which is the new limited-time job, Beastmaster.

To say that Beastmaster's addition to the game has been a mixed bag would be an understatement. People initially enjoyed running around cities with monsters, before others quickly realized that having no way to actually get rid of them actually ended up being more annoying after a while.

On the actual combat side of things, that's a mixed bag too. It's fun to run around and capture beasts, engaging in the more casual side of the job, but when it comes to rotations and really getting the most out of Beastmaster, there have been complaints regarding job balance, and many have had to look towards exploits to get past some of the trickier challenges that Square Enix cooked up.

It's for this reason that the Beastmaster Crucible Rankings system has been indefinitely postponed. Explained in a lodestone update earlier today, Square Enix has said that "considerable feedback on Beastmaster's combat balance" as well as "reports of issues with certain gameplay mechanics" have forced its hand, saying that it wouldn't be fair on the rankings if the job wasn't balanced correctly.

It makes sense, especially if players are using exploits that others may not be familiar with for an advantage, but the general reaction to this postponement of the Crucible Rankings is many hoping it doesn't come back at all.

You see, Crucible Rankings is going to be a ranking system for people that play the Crucible of the Unbroken, a set of challenges designed for Beastmaster. Each season, the rankings are reset, and those that have reached a certain milestone will receive a set amount of rewards, those being titles and a new mount.

Unfortunately, the thing that many people will actually want — the mount — will require players to finish in the top 300 on their server before the season ends, which is quite the feat. In fact, for the lesser skilled and more time-strapped players out there, it could feel borderline impossible, which is why many seemingly want the ranking system to be scrapped entirely.

"I wouldn't mind if they just ditched the seasons completely and instead made the mount a reward for clearing all the boards on the highest degree," says a user called Septiphobiac on the FF14 subreddit. "Just scrap the ranked bulls**t entirely SE," says another user, while a few fans argue that the ranking system should be more similar to the one used with Crystaline Conflict.
