xQc was told by Twitch to remove the VOD of his GTA 6 reaction, despite other streamers’ VODs still being available.
On Thursday August 27, the extended look at Grand Theft Auto VI was released on Netflix and YouTube. The video showed off some key story scenes, gameplay mechanics, free-roam activities, and graphic improvements.
Many streamers, including xQc, reacted to the video while live-streaming. However, the Canadian streamer was left incensed after Twitch told him to remove his VOD of the reaction.
Twitch asked xQc to remove/private the VOD because of the way that the GTA VI presentation had been used in the stream. However, many other streamers including Kai Cenat, Hasan, and Asmongold have all been allowed to keep their VODs available.
The streamer reacted to the news on stream. He revealed that the “string of like 105 messages” came “all the way from the top” and expressed disappointment that he was singled out for his reaction to “the biggest announcement of the year”.
Reddit users were quick to point out that Twitch didn’t remove the VOD themselves, and instead contacted xQc’s production team in their attempts to remove it.
Some believe fear over litigation is the reason behind Twitch’s unusual activity, due to Rockstar and Netflix’s rules about the manner in which the GTA VI video could be covered by streamers.
xQc reportedly told his moderators to reinstate the VOD, claiming he did not care if he would be banned. Furious at the inconsistency displayed by Twitch, he advised other smaller streamers to break the rules. “Break all of the rules, genuinely. Just break the rules and wait till you get banned or warned, f*ck TOS,” he said.
