During A Hero's End quest, players will come across a fresco painted on the wall and the Decrepit Key, which will start the Champion of Old quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker. The quest will require players to head up to the top of a hill and locate the place depicted in the fresco. To make things easier, this guide will help players find the place from the fresco and get their hands on the legendary Erka's sword in Blood of Dawnwalker.
To start the Champion of Old quest in Blood of Dawnwalker, players will need to inspect the mural (fresco) on the wall while exploring the underground crypt during A Hero's End quest. Once players finish the conversation with Father Florin and enter the crypt, they'll need to defeat an undead monster. Once the monster is defeated, head right from the chamber.
Here, Coen will be ambushed by a few undead dogs. Make quick work of them and head forward down the stairs. You'll need to follow the crypt and defeat some undead enemies.
At the end of the corridor, you'll enter a room with a mural (fresco) on the wall. Interact with the mural and inspect every point of interest. Once you're done, you'll get a Decrepit Key and add "The Champion of Old" to your quest log.
After you've completed the A Hero's End quest and are out in the open, track the Champion of Old quest in your Journal and head to the location of the objective. After arriving atop a hill, you'll need to find the place shown in the fresco in Blood of Dawnwalker. To do that, look for a sinkhole in the ground leading downwards.
Head down the sinkhole's sloping path, and you'll come across a wall of vines that Coen can cut down, but it'll cost 3 hours of daytime.
Head through the vines, and players will enter a hidden tomb/chamber with two different murals (frescoes) on the wall. Inspect both of the frescoes on the opposite walls and interact with all points of interest on each.
Right after you inspect the second fresco, the tomb in the room will open up, and a combat encounter against Erkas the Repenter will begin. Defeating Erkas isn't that tough; just make sure to time your dodges right and stay on top of direction blocks to avoid running out of stamina.
