Throughout the 11-year-long run of Yuki Tabata's Black Clover, we have been introduced to a wide array of captivating antagonists who clashed with our main cast. Among them are the Devils, who stand as some of the most powerful to make an appearance in the story. The Devils are an ancient race of the Black Clover world who dwell in the Underworld. They can also manifest themselves in the human world through human incarnations. The strongest of these Devils are connected to the Tree of Qliphoth, and they are considered the highest ranking of all.
Through the new release of Perfect Grimoire on August 4, 2026, Black Clover creator Yuki Tabata unveiled a lot of exciting new information in his new guidebook, and we get to learn more about two of these highest-ranking Devils, those being the Devil Belphegor, incarnating through Acier Silva, granting powerful Water Magic, and the Devil Asmodeus, the Earth Devil who took over the body of Morris. Black Clover's final arc sees the reveal of the most powerful Devils in the whole series, and we will finally get to see them brought to life in Black Clover Season 2 in October 2026.
Black Clover had an amazing run from 2015 all the way to 2016. The series managed to captivate thousands of fans throughout its journey, especially in the final stretch, where Yuki Tabata decided to play around with the concept of Devils, making it more important than ever before. This mystical and magical force came face to face with humanity, and needless to say, it was quite thrilling.
That said, because of how rushed Black Clover was towards its end, Yuki Tabata was unable to fully explore the Devils he introduced. For example, the Devils incarnated through Acier Silva and Morris were left as a mystery. Through the new guidebook of Black Clover, Perfect Grimoire, revealed on August 4, 2026, we finally know of the Devils Belphegor and Asmodeus, and they're two of the strongest Devils of the Black Clover world.
It had long been the Zogratis' main goal to unleash Devils into the world through the usage of the Tree of Qliphoth. With their efforts, they were able to bring many powerful Devils into the human world and allow them to incarnate and grant powers to their allies. In Black Clover's final arc, Acier Silva, Noelle's deceased mother, was revived and brought back through Lucius' power, and with his Soul Magic, he also turned her into an evil Paladin. Not only was Acier revived, but she was brought back stronger than ever through the newly revealed Devil in the Perfect Grimoire, Belphegor.
Acier Silva was born with the attribute of Steel Magic, a trait she didn’t fully pass down to any of her children. She was later powered up with new abilities as revealed through Black Clover's new guidebook, such as Belphegor, who is the Water Devil. Through their power, Acier Silva was able to obtain artificial Water magic, which she used to full effect in her big battle. Acier Silva obtaining Water Magic made for an incredible fight against her children, as they are mostly Water Magic Users, apart from Nozel, who has Mercury Magic.
Belphegor was defeated in Black Clover through the combined efforts of the Silva siblings. This battle brought them closer, which led to the reunification of the family after years of tension. Unfortunately, unlike most other high-ranking Devils, we never got to see Belphegor’s actual design, not even in the new guidebook reveal. We only get to see his incarnated version through Acier Silva.
Acier Silva was one of the most iconic Devil-incarnated humans to make an appearance in the Final Arc. However, she isn't the only one whose Devil has been expanded on through Perfect Grimoire. In his Guidebook, Yuki Tabata reveals another Devil of the Tree of Qliphoth, and that's the Earth Devil, Asmodeus. Asmodeus was incarnated into Moris Libardirt, as seen in Black Clover Chapter 354 from March 19, 2023, released in WSJ Issue #16. Previously, Moris was incarnated by the ultimate Devil, Lucifero, but that has obviously changed since.
