During the tutorial of Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, you'll be taught the basics of combat, as well as getting to know some of the characters. While the combat basics are fairly straightforward, there is one section that actually tripped me up, despite being pretty simple in itself. That's because the tutorial is a bit misleading, so I thought I'd cover how to use items, specifically the Vulnerary potions to heal in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave.
As noted above, the tutorial does actually explain that to access the items menu when you're in combat, you need to press Y to open your Items list. From here, you can select an item, but what confused me was that when I tried to do this at the beginning of a turn, I'd highlight the Vulnerary item to heal with, but I couldn't no button would allow me to actually use it.
That's because to use items, you need to move your unit first. After doing that, you're then able to select 'Items' from the list of options that appears next to your character. Selecting this will then bring up the Items menu, allowing you to then choose the item you want to use, pressing A on it, and then selecting the 'Use' option.
When I was first told to do this in the tutorial, I was pressing Y at the beginning of my turn to open the Items menu but then couldn't actually select the item to use it. This left me confused for a while and wondering if I'd missed something. Either way, I thought other players might have similar issues.
As you progress through the game, you'll gain access to all manner of other items that you can either consume to help keep your units fighting in battle, or weapons to help them take down different enemies. Pressing Y to open the Items menu can still be useful, to get an idea of the durability of your weapons, or the amount of a certain item you have left to help you plan out what you're going to do in a turn, but you aren't able to use the items directly from within this menu.
