Two brand-new One Piece movies just got confirmed during One Piece Day '26, 2027’s God Valley adaptation and 2029’s strangely titled Baad.
Although it’s not as if One Piece fans are exactly starving for content considering both the manga and the anime are still going after nearly 30 years, the Netflix show is a surprise hit, and Luffy has plenty of games under his belt, it has been a while since the last movie. 2022 gave us the wonderful One Piece Red, and we’ve had nothing since.
While anime movies do take a very long time to put together, especially when they look as good as One Piece, it has been a little strange not to have anything confirmed for the horizon. That’s just changed today, as not one but two new movies have been announced at the same time, and they’re not too far away.
Yesterday, August 22, was the start of the One Piece Day ‘26 fan convention, which took place in Japan’s Makuhari Messe. Similarly to the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri that happened at the start of the year, One Piece Day ‘26 had a big surprise in store for fans with the reveal of two new movies, which were shared on Twitter by Eiichiro_Staff.
The first movie is coming in summer 2027, and it’s an adaptation of the God Valley Incident that took place long before the events of One Piece. Fans have been begging for it to be adapted in some format for a while now, and that’s clearly being listened to with a whole film being made instead of just an anime arc.
God Valley isn’t all, though, as the trailer also revealed that another movie is coming in 2029, the oddly-titled Baad. The details of the plot for Baad are currently unknown as only the name was shown in the trailer, but we do know it’s a 30th anniversary celebration for the anime and that the title text was drawn by One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda.
