A one-of-one graded Gold Star Rayquaza has become the first English-language Pokemon card to sell for more than $1 million, breaking a record previously held by Charizard.
The 2005 Pokemon EX Deoxys Holo Rayquaza Gold Star #107 was sold through Fanatics Collect’s August Premier Auction on August 28.
After attracting 35 bids, the card reached a final price of $1,020,000 including the buyer’s premium.
Fanatics Collect described it as potentially “the single greatest copy” of Gold Star Rayquaza. It is the only copy to receive a CGC Pristine 10 grade, while the auction house said no Pristine 10 examples appear in the BGS or TAG registries either.

The seven-figure sale surpassed the previous English-language Pokemon card record by $65,200.
That record belonged to a PSA Gem Mint 10 First Edition Base Set Charizard pulled during Logan Paul and Ken Goldin’s 2021 box break. According to Goldin, the Charizard sold for $954,800 in February 2026.
The overall Pokemon card record remains considerably higher. Logan Paul’s Japanese Pikachu Illustrator sold for $16.492 million earlier in 2026, becoming the most expensive trading card ever sold at auction.
