Control Resonant does not have a traditional difficulty slider. Instead, the world just gradually gets more difficult as you progress through the story and defeat Resonants. While the game balances the difficulty by increasing the quality and frequency of rewards to help players upgrade their build more quickly, it can become hard to manage for players who just want to experience the story with a mild challenge.
Thankfully, Remedy had already anticipated this and added an Assist Mode into the settings. It's a nifty difficulty tuner that allows players to make Control Resonant both easier and a lot more difficult. I'll be explaining how the Assist Mode works and what kind of settings you can use to balance the gameplay difficulty without compromising on the experience.
Players can access the Assist mode after loading into the game and heading into the settings. There are a slew of options here, but the first thing you'll need to do is turn it on. Don't worry, your achievements or trophy progress won't be affected by using the Assist mode in Control Resonant.
Here's what each setting does, followed by the best settings you should set in Assist Mode for a more balanced difficulty. Make sure to take these settings as a template and tune them further according to your playstyle.
We'll be tweaking all Assist Mode settings individually, so there's no need to use any presets. Still, here's a brief explanation of each preset option.
Field Agent: Easy mode that significantly reduces enemy difficulty, lowers damage taken by Dylan, and increases your Damage and Falter output.
Strategist: Turns Dylan into a glass cannon. He'll take more damage, but also dish out increased damage. Only for players who're looking for a tough challenge.
Ranger: Makes Dylan into a tank, as he'll be able to withstand a ton of damage, but his overall damage output will be significantly lowered.
