A new Pokemon promotion has been leaked for McDonald's, and it seems locations in the U.S. will have themed Happy Meals coming in the month of November. Since the franchise debuted in North America in 1998, there have been countless Pokemon fast food promotions. While the vast majority have been at McDonald's over the last few years, franchises like KFC and Burger King have also run campaigns with their own unique products.
The Pokemon franchise is celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, and The Pokemon Company has made fast food part of its strategy this year. Pokemon burgers launched at McDonald's in Japan during the summer, with designs meant to evoke the original three first partners from the Kanto region: Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle.
According to a leak from PokeBeach, McDonald's locations in the U.S. will also be getting a Pokemon promotion as part of the 30th anniversary celebration. Pokemon Happy Meals will apparently be offered between November 5 and December 9, though an official announcement has not been made. The Happy Meals will have a set of 15 cards to collect, which will be distributed in packs of four. In past years, these have been reprints of older cards, but Japan received a McDonald's exclusive Pikachu card in 2025. PokeBeach speculates that the card could be offered as part of this promotion, but nothing has been confirmed.
If the Pikachu card is finally made available outside of Japan, it's likely that the rest of the cards will be reprints. That's been the case over the last few years, though the McDonald's versions do offer some slight differences. In addition to the cards themselves, it seems the Happy Meals will include additional Pokemon items. The leak specifically mentions that a toy will be included, or some kind of "essential handbook." The leak suggests that this year's inclusion could be some kind of card display, and past years have offered something similar made out of cardboard.

As a result, casual fans seemed to have a lot less difficulty obtaining the cards offered in subsequent promotions.
Demand for Pokemon TCG products has far exceeded supply over the last few years. The Pokemon Company has struggled to keep up and has taken several steps to make sure that products are easier to come by. Pokemon Center has even canceled preorders made by bots, in an effort to make sure that real fans are able to get new sets. It remains to be seen how the 2026 Happy Meal promotion will go in the U.S., but McDonald's and The Pokemon Company should be prepared for scalpers who try to make it worse for everyone else.
