We’re reaching the final stretch before Final Fantasy VII Revelations, and Naoki Hamaguchi has been giving us plenty of insights during interviews.
Of course, with the last part of the Final Fantasy VII Remake series getting wrapped up, Hamaguchi has been asked whether other games would get the same treatment.
We’ve already received confirmation that Final Fantasy IX won’t be getting the remake treatment and all ideas had been scrapped. Final Fantasy IX is loved by many, but still has its controversial sides that might be harder to scrub off, especially with antagonist Kuja. Those hoping to see all of Vivi’s glory will have to wait until Square Enix decides that it might be worth remaking it after all on another console generation.
Final Fantasy VIII was deemed too big by Hamaguchi to capture properly in a remake and sadly shot down as well. FF8 remains divisive in the FF community with its rapid pacing in the end and the fact that it was the follow-up to the famous Final Fantasy VII, which broke records and still is regarded as one of the best games ever created.
The one Final Fantasy that Naoki Hamaguchi has stated he would enjoy to see as a fellow gamer would be Final Fantasy VI, but nothing has been said as of late besides the pixel remasters.
In an interview with Radio Times Gaming, as reported by Playground, Naoki Hamaguchi gave his opinion on the hypothetical remake of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, saying that its entire size gives him a proper fright from the amount of work necessary to do the entire game justice.
The Witcher 3 is known for how huge and vast the open-world RPG is, compounded by the massive DLCs. Hamaguchi went on to say on record that he was in awe of Geralt’s adventures in Rivia and that his professional experience only gave him further admiration for his Polish colleagues.
Naoki Hamaguchi said he would get a hypothetical The Witcher 3 Remake on its very first day not to miss out on the action and dig in as soon as possible. But also, being a professional in the gaming industry gives him perspective on how remaking The Witcher 3 would easily be a nightmare for game developers despite being a massive dream for any gamer.
