Pearl Abyss has launched a new streaming demo of Crimson Desert, which lets players try it out on Twitch.
The demo is made possible through Amazon‘s GameLift Streams service, which lets developers make game builds available for streaming via Amazon Web Services’ cloud computing.
Players can try the demo out now by heading to Twitch, where they can start playing right away if they’re logged into their Twitch account.
The demo lasts for 20 minutes before it kicks players out, and can played with either keyboard and mouse, or using a controller.
Twitch is usually where players go to watch other people streaming games, but Amazon recently started piloting the ability to play game demos directly through the website.
The theory behind it is that if a publisher or a developer is releasing a demo for a game, the usual method of making it available for download on Steam (or via the Xbox, PlayStation or Nintendo digital stores if it’s a console title) may not engage everyone because it involves having to download the demo first, at which point their interest may have waned.
By streaming a demo via Twitch, players can boot the game almost instantly and try it out while it’s still fresh in their mind.
