In the original Jujutsu Kaisen story by Gege Akutami, the vast majority of the focus was on Japan, but this changed quickly when the author returned with a second story, which was a short spin-off set 68 years after the events of the original manga. This short story was Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, and it did wonders to expand the world-building of Jujutsu Kaisen even further.
For the very first time, Jujutsu Kaisen shifted its focus to a completely different planet known as Simuria. By the end of this short story, with the end of sorcery on Earth, this new planet of sorcerers now exists as the strongest in the entire universe.
Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo expanded upon the world created by Gege Akutami tremendously. For the vast majority of the original story, the focus was largely on Japan. In fact, outside of Japan, Jujutsu Sorcery wasn't even common because the people did not release cursed energy to such a high degree. In other words, the existence of Cursed Spirits, while still possible, happened at a very limited rate outside of Japan, restricting the scope to just Japan. In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, however, Gege Akutami took a completely different approach as he expanded upon the scope of the story. In this series, he introduced aliens for the very first time, and these aliens belonged to a special planet known as Simurians. The planet of Simurians was shown to have two specific tribes, as explained to us in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo Chapter 8, released officially on October 27, 2025, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 48.

As Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo expanded upon the Simurians, we found out that they had some very powerful sorcerers of their own, belonging to either the Deskunte tribe or the Rumelian tribe. While the vast majority of the Deskunte still exist on Simuria, the Rumelians all left aboard the spaceship known as Naunax and went to planet Earth. Along with them was Dabura, a member of the Deskunte tribe, and these characters ended up becoming the primary elements in the story of Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo. As the short story of Modulo continued, we were finally shown the immense strength of the sorcerers hailing from the planet Simuria. Among those of the Rumel, there existed certain fighters with tremendously powerful abilities, such as Maru, with the power of Chaos and Order. There was also Dura, known to hold tremendously powerful abilities, but nothing compared to the strongest of the Deskunte tribe — Dabura Karaba, a threat so powerful that he was believed to be as strong as Ryomen Sukuna at the very beginning of the story.
While Gege Akutami certainly expanded upon the world of sorcerers in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo, he also made drastic changes to it. For instance, in Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapter 22, released on February 16, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 12, Gege Akutami had Yuji Itadori, the former protagonist, completely remove Cursed Energy from the sorcerers of Earth, with Maru's help. This change was drastic and one that Yuji himself described as a sin, but according to him, it was incredibly necessary. One of the main plot points in the original Jujutsu Kaisen series was the elimination of Cursed Spirits as a whole. Now, Yuji Itadori has finally completed this task after many others before him dedicated their entire lives to it. Together with Maru's help, Yuji was able to remove Cursed Energy from Earth's future generations completely.

This removal of Cursed Energy also affects the Rumelians, who have now successfully integrated into Japanese society. This means that all those born into either the humans or the Rumelians in the future will not have access to any Cursed Energy. That said, those who already have access to it will continue to hold onto it until the very end, when they die. In Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo chapter 25, which was officially released on March 9, 2026, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 15, this new society finally started taking shape. At the same time, we got to see Dabura head back to his own planet, Simuria, where he then took control of the Deskunte tribe, becoming its Chieftain at first.
