All The Goth Girlies Who Loved American McGee’s Alice Need To See This Game

Now that Gamescom has kicked off, a seemingly endless barrage of new game trailers are hitting social media, and it's easy for smaller projects to get lost in the shuffle. But as a longtime fan of American McGee's Alice (and someone who still hasn't stopped mourning the franchise's undeserved fate ), one title from today's Find Your Next Game showcase immediately caught my eye: Cutout, a 2D side-scrolling action game in which you play a paper doll with the power to snip off and steal the limbs of her enemies. In Cutout, players control Lena, a "child of the forest" who takes the form of a 2D paper doll. After discovering a pair of scissors--and tapping into her internal rage--Lena embarks on a quest through a grimdark fairytale world full of enemies whose limbs she can sever and attach to her own body, giving her unique powers. But there's a catch: Enemies can also steal Lena's limbs and use them against her in battle. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlBKpbPOffM In addition to stealing various limbs for advantage in combat, players will also be faced with choices that will shape what kind of person Lena becomes. "Will you claim what they denied you, or heal what they destroyed?" an unseen narrator asks in the game's trailer. From the spooky-cute fairytale aesthetic to the surprisingly violent premise and even Lena's striped stockings, Cutout is definitely giving off major Alice vibes (with a dash of Little Nightmares in there, too). We'll likely never get another Alice game from American McGee (thanks, EA), but with Cutout on the way, fans of nightmarish fairytales finally have a spiritual successor to look forward to. Developed by Italian studio 906 Games, Cutout does not yet have an official release date, but is listed as "coming soon" on Steam, where it's currently available to wishlist .

GTA 6 Wants You To Reconsider Doing What Everyone Does In Grand Theft Auto

A new deep dive has dropped with some fascinating takeaways from Rockstar Games on the most anticipated release of the year, Grand Theft Auto 6 . We've learned a lot already, including a feature returning from San Andreas and how switching between the two protagonists works . Now, we're finding out that you might want to reconsider going on those classic GTA rampages when this new GTA hits PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on November 19. In the Autumn 2026 Issue of Dazed magazine , some Rockstar Games developers talked about what you can expect when GTA 6 drops this November. While you're probably looking forward to rampaging through Leonida as you'd do in just about every other GTA game, the team is really cautioning you from doing so. Because GTA 6 puts a greater emphasis on visual feedback (especially regarding how activities like exercising impact protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos appearance) and the deeper relationships you can have between the two main characters and all the other characters, GTA 6 features a heightened realism that makes you think twice about what you do and how you do it. While Rockstar Games didn't explicitly say what this means, you can infer it from Dazed's feature. GTA 6's world is quite reactive to your actions. Not only do Jason and Lucia physically change based on how you treat them, but NPCs also respond to whether you're walking, running, driving frantically, or holding a weapon. And with the enhanced realism that the team baked into the game, going on a rampage may not just cause the cops to pull up on you; it may lead to NPCs acting differently to you, which could pose all sorts of problems. We'll find out soon enough, as GTA 6 comes out on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Until then, be careful when scrolling online. There are leaks just about everywhere now.
