There are clear skies and seas ahead! Let’s talk about the next update of Task Force Admiral. The 1942-set game has been well received for its portrayal of the war in the Pacific Ocean.
Plenty of people have been playing the aircraft carrier strategy game since backing the Kickstarter. The team behind it has been very grateful, but they also have their day jobs to fulfil their naval dreams. So what is stopping the game from being deemed complete?
According to the developers, the completion of version 1.0 is hinging on the team spending a lot of time on the perks to give back to Kickstarter backers.
Currently on the road to 1.0, the team is hyper-focused on delivering mechanics such as the in-game mission builder as well as the in-game replay system, which will allow the player to not lose any bits of actions while making an AAR.
The tutorial system in the game still needs fine-tuning, along with the matching lessons/missions in the game. Also, just like any other product, until the final touches are in place, the manual can’t be finalised and ready for full access.
The combat mechanics are going to get significantly deeper on the road to 1.0.
Task Force Admiral will get advanced strike choices and strike AI, weather conditions which will impact the gameplay, comms interception and delay, submarine action, search and rescue mechanics, relevant surface combat and ASW mechanics, and further management of aircraft mechanics such as persistent damage.
Drydock Dreams Games also said in their update that despite how important scenarios are in terms of playtime, they are not as important as mechanics, so those will be given more attention.
