Classic SNES RPGs Lufia and Lufia 2 will be reborn on PS5 at some point next year.
New publisher Clear River Games, in partnership with original publisher TAITO, is bringing the duology back, and so if you're old enough to remember these relatively ancient adventures, then you're (hopefully) in for a seriously nostalgic treat.
The first Lufia is a properly old school Japanese RPG, dealing in destined heroes and a world-ending threat known as the Sinistrals. It's often spoken of in a similar reverence to the early Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest games — it's just that Lufia never quite managed to establish itself as a decades-spanning franchise.
It's also worth mentioning that Lufia was never officially released in Europe.
Meanwhile, Lufia 2, which is actually a prequel to the first title, was something of an experimental follow-up. It challenged dedicated players to conquer an optional 99-floor dungeon, where defeat would mean restarting from the beginning.
Unlike its predecessor, Lufia 2 was released in Europe, but it was simply called Lufia, confusing potential players for years to come.
Lufia I & II The Sinistrals Saga — to give the collection its official title — will be "enhanced for modern play", but Clear River Games hasn't given us any details just yet. More information will be shared "in the coming months".
