You are in charge of the graveyard in Graveyard Keeper 2, so naturally, you’ll want to keep it in good shape. But when the donkey brings you a new body, you can’t just bury it right away. You will have to perform an autopsy first, since bad bodies can hurt your graveyard rating. But things get complicated once you start dealing with all the different organs. Here’s how autopsies work in Graveyard Keeper 2.
Autopsies are performed in the morgue. The Donkey brings bodies to the morgue, and you will get a notification when it arrives. Pick up the body and take it to the autopsy table.
The main goal of an autopsy is to improve the body before you bury it. Ideally, you want to get rid of as many red skulls as possible while keeping the white ones. Each organ can affect the corpse’s skulls differently, so you need to decide which ones to remove and which ones to leave alone.
For example, Fat and Blood each have one red skull, so you should remove them. Flesh has one white skull, so you should leave it in the body. These are the main parts you'll deal with early on. Other body parts can have random skull values, so you can’t always use the same approach with every corpse.
There’s also a chance of getting a Surgeon’s Error when removing an organ. This can happen when your Anatomy Mastery is too low for the organ you are trying to remove. A failed operation leaves a Surgeon’s Error in that organ slot, which removes one red skull and one white skull from the corpse. A corpse with a Surgeon’s Error can’t be turned into a zombie. So I recommend avoiding advanced organs when your Anatomy level is low.
If the corpse still has too many red skulls after the autopsy, you don’t necessarily have to bury it. There are other things you can do, which we cover in our detailed guide on how to deal with bad bodies in Graveyard Keeper 2.
