The most popular mod for The Blood of Dawnwalker is one that lets you take complete control of the game’s central and divisive time mechanic.
If you’re even a little bit interested in The Blood of Dawnwalker, then I bet that you’ve wondered just how important its time management mechanic is. Coen’s journey is on a pretty strict 30-day deadline and the player has to make sure that they’re keeping an eye on how much time they’ve got left while also fighting back (or giving in to) their vampiric urges.
As Dead Rising taught us more than 20 years ago, some players really don’t get on well with time-management mechanics, and it can actually be enough to ruin the game for them. If that’s what’s stopping you from playing one of 2026’s highest-rated games, then look no further, as there’s a mod that gives control right back to you.
Since The Blood of Dawnwalker launched a few days ago, it’s become quite a hotspot for modders, as we saw yesterday with the Geralt mod. As cool as that one is, though, the most popular and helpful mod by far is one that lets you configure the game’s time management mechanics and basically do away with them if you please.
The mod, aptly titled “Configurable Extended Days and Time”, comes from Nexus Mods creator Noviathan, and it aims to give players control over the game’s time system and deadlines. That includes allowing several segment presets (from 8 to 32) and story deadline presets (from 30 to 9,999 days), essentially giving you as much time as you need.
There’s even an option in the works for a 15-day deadline, for those who want an even stricter schedule.
As of the time of writing, the mod has been viewed more than 22,000 times, suggesting that quite a lot of players are keen to avoid the stress of a looming clock. That being said, the deadline is kind of the whole point of The Blood of Dawnwalker, and something that isn’t as stressful as it seems if you pay attention to it.
Creator Noviathan seems to be aware of this viewpoint, as they note in the mod’s description that there’s no “correct way to play” and that they “will not tolerate bashing of each other’s playstyles”. I fully respect people playing how they want to, but my personal recommendation would be to at least try the time management before thinking about modding it out.
