Pokemon’s 30th Anniversary set was designed to make foil cards easier to pull, but accidental misprints are quickly becoming the release’s most unusual chase cards.
Pokemon 30th Celebration launched with more than 150 cards, including 30 Pikachu rares, 30 classic cards and more than 20 new illustration rare and special illustration rare cards. Pokemon’s official set overview also highlights two new Futuristic Rare cards from artist YOSHIROTTEN.
The product’s structure has created a huge amount of shiny inventory. Launch coverage reported that every booster is foil and includes a unique Pikachu, meaning collectors have increasingly looked beyond the regular chase cards for something genuinely difficult to find.
That search has now produced a wave of factory errors, including the so-called Blood Mew, a Mewtwo card with a Basic Energy appearing over it, ghosted artwork, red foil patches, shifted textures and other printing defects.

The names are collector nicknames rather than official Pokemon rarities, but the cards have already gone viral across social media.
Miss Natoshi shared images of two Mew cards with large red sections bleeding across the artwork, calling them “blood mew” misprints.
Another collector later posted a red-bleeding Mew pull on Reddit, with commenters claiming they had seen similar cards with the red section appearing in a different position.
