To trigger the Into the Den quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you need to read a letter that's hidden in a bear's den. After reading the letter and learning about the secret cache, you must find the secret cache marked with an X. Find this hidden stash to finish the Into the Den quest and get items like armor and a sword, along with 100 XP. This quest takes 1 Hour (1 Time Segment) to complete.
From the Northern Foothills Shrine, head west until you see a bear. There should be a quest marker on the map to help you locate the beast's home. Beat the bear, then inspect the body inside. You know it's the right one if it's marked yellow/gold when you activate Focus Mode.
Read the letter you took from the corpse to learn about a secret cache. Now, you must find a secret cache marked with X.
When you open the map, you can see the quest area, indicating where you need to look. Fortunately, if you read the letter, you will learn that it's under flat stones in one of the huts.
Go to the western huts within the marked area, and you will see an X on the wall with some stones underneath. Interacting with this hole will advance time by 1 Hour. If you attempt to do this right before the Mass time, you may end up completing the quest without looting the goodies inside the secret cache. Therefore, you should ensure you have at least 2 Time Segments left before the Mass.
Alternatively, you can ignore this quest during the Prologue, as you can do it after the Prologue.
For completing the Into the Den quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker, you will get 100 XP. Additionally, if you manage to take the loot from the hole, you can get: Artisan's Tunic, Letter with a Tip, Rebel's Falchion Sword, and Turnip. Letter with a Tip unlocks a dialogue option with the Silver Trader in Svartrau City, forcing him to trade silver with Coen. The Tunic and Sword are both useful early-game items, but you don't have to worry too much about completing this quest for them, since you'll replace them quickly as you explore the world.
