If a Tree Falls quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker is a somewhat hidden quest. You can trigger it by heading north from the Northern Foothills Shrine, past the peat bog of the Blackwater Hollow shrine area. There, you can see some strange things that you can investigate, all of which will trigger the If a Tree Falls in a Forest quest. After investigating the occurrence, all you need to do is report to Zdislav in the village. Zdislav is the village elder who's keeping things together between the villagers. This quest takes 0 Time Segment (0 Hour) and will reward you with 100 XP. All in all, this is a mission worth doing in the Prologue.
Once you arrive at the Northern Foothills Shrine, you can inspect the fallen tree nearby.
Use Focus Mode to see the large broken tree highlighted in yellow/gold. You can use Focus Mode using right-click on PC, L2 on PS, or LT on Xbox. You can inspect the fallen tree, which Coen will say might have been knocked down by the wind, and the body underneath the tree, where a person died from being crushed by the tree.
Now, you must follow the tracks to understand what happened in the woods by the peat bogs. The quest description mentions that the logging site is abandoned, and the tracks lead deeper into the forest. To find out what happened, you need to follow the tracks.
You'll soon find an empty scabbard and start hearing a whispering sound. Keep following the tracks to find a human soldier, likely dead from tripping on a tree root and smashing his head on a rock. Now, there are only the large footprints left to follow. The calm walking footsteps soon turn into a running track. You can see the person drop their shield and sword, and the whispering becomes more apparent. Soon, you'll find one shoe, and underneath the cliff is a dead Uriash, likely dead from the fall.
When you loot the body, you will find a letter that orders Sergeant Lubor to comb the woods outside of Laslea. It says that there are reports of disturbing activity and unsettling sounds and lights. Since you also hear the whispers, you know that at least one part is true. From the body, you can also get a Witch's Pendant.
Now, return to Laslea Centre Shrine and speak to Zdislav to report your findings. This will complete the If a Tree Falls in a Forest quest, and you will get 100 XP for your effort. This mission takes 0 Time Segment, so you should do it during the prologue.
