Monster Hunter Wilds will release for Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, Capcom announced during a Nintendo Direct on Wednesday.
The game’s upcoming expansion, Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance, will also be coming to Nintendo Switch 2 when it releases in 2027, Capcom said.
Wilds’ Switch 2 port – first announced this summer – will support cross-platform multiplayer and wireless play. All Title Update content will be included, including the Grand Hub, fan-favourite monsters like Mizutsune and Lagiacrus, the Final Fantasy XIV Online collaboration and more.
The Switch 2 port of Monster Hunter Wilds will come as little surprise to most, considering Capcom’s prolific support of the platform so far, and the Monster Hunter series’ historical popularity on Nintendo platforms.
“Monster Hunter Wilds is confident, bold, and one of the best Monster Hunter games ever, thanks to its ability to stand on the giant shoulders of Worlds and improve it in virtually every way,” reads VGC’s review of the base game.
A trailer for Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance debuted during PlayStation’s State of Play last week, showcasing new monsters and story details.
The video shows The Boost Bracer, a new piece of equipment that enables new abilities via the Hunter’s Slinger.
According to Capcom, familiar characters from Monster Hunter Wilds will return in Ascendance, changed by the years since their encounter with Arkveld.
