Dietrich is strongest when his build keeps the Sword at its centre in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. Gladiator, Myrmidon and Shido form a direct route toward a fast, hard-hitting swordsman, with class skills that reward accurate finishing blows and frequent combat arts.
The long-term goal is The Blade, a Divine Class that suits his sword focus. Before that becomes available, Shadow Seeker offers a flexible Master Class step, especially if another unit will take The Blade instead.
The Sword is Dietrich's main weapon, almost by default. This gets him on that track.
Bow is a decent backup in many situations, especially against fliers, and it's also useful for later class unlocks.
Strengthens the Sword-based build, moving towards Shadow Seeker and Blade.
Keeps Bow training relevant and earns some useful map utility.
