A Song of Ice & Fire: Tactics has received a new official update from CMON, showing off more of its upcoming Fire and Blood content. The tabletop skirmish game brings characters and conflicts from the world of Game of Thrones into smaller, scenario-driven battles using detailed miniatures.
CMON first announced A Song of Ice & Fire: Tactics in late 2023 before taking the project to Gamefound in February 2024. Unlike the larger A Song of Ice & Fire: Tabletop Miniatures Game, Tactics focuses on smaller warbands, individual characters, and scenarios with their own objectives, letting players recreate notable conflicts without commanding enormous armies. The original Battle of the Trident Starter Set focuses on Robert's Rebellion and features major figures from that period, including Robert Baratheon, Eddard Stark, and Rhaegar Targaryen.
Developer CMON has now published a new crowdfunding update via Gamefound focused on the Fire and Blood Skirmish Set, giving backers another look at miniatures from the upcoming A Song of Ice & Fire: Tactics release. Previously introduced as the King's Landing Skirmish Set, Fire and Blood moves away from Robert's Rebellion and into the Dance of the Dragons, with the Greens and Blacks fighting over succession to the Iron Throne. Major figures represented include Rhaenyra Targaryen, Daemon Targaryen, and Alicent Hightower, giving fans another tabletop interpretation of the period that also serves as the basis for the House of the Dragon era of Game of Thrones.

That change in era demonstrates one of the biggest advantages of the Tactics format. The Battle of the Trident material can explore Robert's Rebellion, while Fire and Blood jumps generations into the past to focus on the political and military struggle between Rhaenyra's Blacks and the Greens supporting Aegon II. With scenarios taking place in and beneath the Red Keep, the smaller scale also gives CMON room to emphasize individual characters and confrontations rather than relying exclusively on massive battles. For fans familiar with House of the Dragon's Targaryen civil war, the setting makes Fire and Blood one of the most immediately recognizable parts of the growing tabletop line.

Fire and Blood is also a standalone skirmish set rather than a small character expansion, meaning players will not need the Battle of the Trident Starter Set to play it. The package includes 24 detailed plastic miniatures alongside unit cards, six double-sided game tiles, terrain pieces, dice, tokens, objective and agenda cards, and a rulebook. Players can use the included Black and Green warbands for its scenarios, while the broader system also lets warbands from other sets enter different battlefields. That should give fans of Game of Thrones tabletop games another starting point if the Dance of the Dragons interests them more than Robert's Rebellion.
