Resident Evil fans on Switch 2 are getting three more major games this fall, with Capcom bringing the remakes of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 to Nintendo's newest console. Since the Switch 2's release, Resident Evil has grown in presence on the hybrid console, giving players access to many of Capcom's more recent survival horror releases.
Capcom has been steadily expanding the Resident Evil franchise on the Nintendo Switch 2 over the last year. The franchise's newest entry, Requiem, launched for the console earlier this year, while Resident Evil 7 biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village also received native Switch 2 versions in February. That already gave the system a solid selection of modern RE games, but several of the series' most prominent remakes were still missing native versions. However, Capcom is ready to fill in those gaps with new releases.
Capcom confirmed during the September 9 Nintendo Direct that Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition, Resident Evil 3, and Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition will all launch digitally for Nintendo Switch 2 on October 16, 2026, with pre-orders now available. Physical editions are expected to follow in January 2027. All three are native Switch 2 versions of Capcom's modern remakes, giving Nintendo players official RE Engine versions without relying on cloud streaming. Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition includes the base remake and its additional downloadable content, while Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition bundles the remake with Ada Wong's Separate Ways expansion and other extras. The three-game release significantly expands the Resident Evil library on Switch 2 and brings several of Capcom's most prominent modern survival horror games to the console just in time for Halloween.
The three remakes also cover a particularly important stretch of the modern Resident Evil canon. Resident Evil 2 follows Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield during the Raccoon City outbreak, while Resident Evil 3 shifts the focus to Jill Valentine and her pursuit by Nemesis during the same disaster. Resident Evil 4 then follows Leon years later on a rescue mission that helped push the series toward a heavier emphasis on action. Bringing all three to Switch 2 gives players a relatively straightforward way to experience several major chapters of the Resident Evil's modern remake era on one platform.

These new Switch 2 versions are particularly notable because Nintendo fans previously had limited access to some of these games, and not everyone liked the format they were in. Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3 were available on the original Switch but only as cloud versions, meaning they relied on an internet connection rather than running natively on the hardware. Those cloud streaming versions have remained controversial with some fans who prefer native versions with potentially better image quality and less input lag. Meanwhile, the Resident Evil 4 remake never came to the original Switch at all. These new releases therefore replace two contentious streaming options with native ports while bringing Capcom’s modern take on Resident Evil 4 to Nintendo hardware for the first time.
By October, Switch 2 will have native versions of Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, Resident Evil 4, Resident Evil 7, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil Requiem, making the platform one of the best places to experience the current era of Capcom's enduring survival horror series. That is a considerably stronger modern lineup than Nintendo players had access to during much of the original Switch generation. While Capcom may have skipped or compromised several major Resident Evil releases on Nintendo’s previous hardware, the company seems to be making up for it in a big way with the Switch 2.
