If you've been waiting for the nights to draw in before settling down with a new game, the Steam Autumn Sale is now underway, bringing a week of discounts across the PC storefront.
The sale runs through 10 AM PT on October 8, giving you until then to pick up whatever catches your eye. It's worth keeping that deadline in mind, though, as the Autumn Sale is considerably shorter than Steam's two-week Summer and Winter Sales.
Valve moved the Autumn Sale to early October in 2025, when it ran from September 29 through October 6. Before that, the event was held in late November, and it also coincides with nominations for the annual Steam Awards.
Rather than making you wade through Steam's seemingly endless list of discounted games, we've picked out some of the standout deals below. So, if you're looking for something new to play as the evenings get darker, here's where I'd start.
Let's start with the biggest 2026 releases. Resident Evil Requiem, Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight and 007 First Light are each 30% off on Steam. Capcom's survival horror entry arrived back in February and can be yours for $48,99, while 007 First Light is IO Interactive's take on James Bond.
Requiem garnered a strong 9/10 score when Tristan Ogilvie looked at it back in March, while 007 First Light managed an identical score from Luke Reilly at the end of May. The new Lego Batman is easily the best of the last decade, and a true return to form – for $49 from Steam (or $43.39 from Fanatical), it's a steal. These are three of the sale's heaviest hitters, so they're a good place to start if you've been waiting for a price drop.
If strategy and RPGs are more your thing, there are some great 50% discounts. Endless Legend 2, Amplitude's 4X sequel, has recently reached its 1.0 release after a spell in early access, while Xenonauts 2 is an X-COM-inspired tactics game that also hit 1.0 this year. Solasta 2, a turn-based RPG, is also half price, though it's still in early access, so expect it to keep changing.
There's also plenty for players with friends. Big Walk is 20% off, and it's a cooperative puzzle game that supports up to 12 players and launched less than two months ago. Marathon, Bungie's multiplayer shooter, is 40% off, and Stick it to the Stickman, a September release in which you work your way up an office tower, is 50% off.
