In case you hadn't noticed, GTA 6 just had its big gameplay blowout, and it looks pretty sensational.
It's a seriously impressive-looking game, one that looks on par with some of PS5's most visually outstanding software — only set within a vast open world that's stuffed with detail.
You can check out the game and judge it for yourself via the extended look, but it seems even the most observant game tech analysts are blown away by what Rockstar Games has created.
Digital Foundry has posted its initial thoughts on the footage shown during the extended look, all captured on a base PS5 by the way, and it's clear the team is super impressed with it.
Oliver Mackenzie has called it "the most impressive example of real-time game rendering" he's ever seen, while Richard Leadbetter calls the achievement "singular across the entire console generation".
The report discusses performance, which has been more or less confirmed to be 30 frames-per-second on a standard PS5; while that's not the buttery smooth 60 many would like, it seems the game holds 30 very steadily, with "very occasional single frame drops".
Digital Foundry says character models are "the most standout visual feature", representing "huge generational improvements" to hair simulation. Other effects like skin shading, sweat, make-up, and more are called out for their level of detail and realism.
The report also praises the lighting and improvements to ray tracing tech used throughout the video.
