In celebration of the upcoming movie, I've updated this article with an Honorable Mentions section dedicated to OP villains who rarely showcase their power. Marvel Comics is absolutely overflowing with powerful villains who can and have destroyed entire universes, so much so that they make the likes of Carnage seem lightweight. We are talking about beings that transcend reality or make it bend to their will, and their defeat often requires interference from a pantheon of heroes with absurd powers. The strongest Marvel villains are so, well, broken that they tend to appear only in a handful of stories, as rolling them out too frequently would leave the X-Men and Avengers completely exhausted.
Despite falling under the same banner, comparing these supervillains can be exhausting in its own right, as many of them hail from different eras and were written by different writers. Still, we will do our best to craft the ultimate list of Marvel's ultimate baddies who are cosmic-level threats.
For the most part, we will be considering each villain at their strongest.
