I’ve been quietly keeping tabs on PS5 side-scrolling roguelike SlashZero for quite some time, so I’m excited to learn a time-limited demo is now live on the PS Store.
It’s unclear exactly when this will expire, but you can download it and give it a try, ahead of the game’s release in Spring 2027.
Here’s what the blurb from the latest trailer says about the game:
“SlashZero is a side-scrolling action roguelike game featuring a roster of unique playable characters, fluid action, aerial combat and infinite build possibilities. This time, new character, new playstyle!
In SlashZero, you will traverse through shattered timelines, wield flashy combo abilities paired with unique enhancements to take down Hieros-I and unravel the hidden truth of this broken world.”
The visual identity reminds me a lot of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners mixed with Honkai: Star Rail’s character designs, but it sounds like the builds system is going to be what is going to set this apart and make it deeply replayable.
I know roguelikes are dime a dozen these days, but I do think this one has just enough identity to help it to stand out.
