2026 has been quite a massive year for Black Clover. In May, the manga by Yuki Tabata officially ended and gave us the grand finale we had all been waiting for years. We also got the release of the final Black Clover guidebook, Perfect Grimoire, and through it, many exciting lore-related questions were answered by the author, and new information was made public.
While a lot has happened in regards to Black Clover manga, this year still has a lot in store for the series, specifically with the long-awaited return of the Black Clover anime. The anime for the series has been on hiatus since 2021, and it's finally returning for good in October 2026. Now, a big announcement was just made via Crunchyroll, confirming that the series is actually returning earlier than scheduled. Instead of October, some fans can catch the very first episode of Black Clover on September 21, 2026, across various theaters in the United States of America and Canada. This screening will only be for one day, so fans of the series should hurry up and get their tickets while they can.
The Black Clover manga saw its serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump GIGA from 2015 to 2026. May 1, 2026 concluded the series once and for all in Jump GIGA's Spring edition. While the manga might be over, we still have the biggest Black Clover project of the year to look forward to, which is the TV anime by Studio Pierrot, also famously known for many other big hits like Naruto and Bleach.
Black Clover has long been absent from the anime scene. In 2021, the anime was officially put on hold because of a lack of manga content to adapt due to the slow pace of Yuki Tabata's work, caused by harsh working conditions and health issues. In 2025, Black Clover Season 2 was officially announced via Anime Expo in July. A year later, we are now eagerly waiting to see the series return in October. While fans know they have to wait until October to see the series return after 5 years, Crunchyroll has officially announced that some fans of the series will be able to enjoy Black Clover earlier than previously scheduled.
On September 1, 2026, Crunchyroll unveiled their plans for “Crunchyroll Anime Night.” Crunchyroll plans to release quite a few animated series on the big screen, and among them is Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1. There are also other interesting anime series, which include The Vermilion Mask, Overgeared, Firefly Wedding, and PSYREN. With this news out, the first episode of the new Black Clover season will be in theaters on September 21, 2026. The screening will last only one day and will be in limited theaters across the USA and Canada. Ticketing is already open, and fans need to snatch their tickets before they sell out.
In the United States, Black Clover will be available across a few Regal, Alamo Drafthouse, and AMC theaters. It must be mentioned, however, that while this is the first time Black Clover Season 2 Episode 1 will be widely screened, it is not the first ever viewing of this episode.
