The Witcher III: Wild Hunt - Remastered is right around the corner, launching on Switch 2 on 29th September 2026 (yes, that's tomorrow at the time of writing).
Many of you already own the original Switch release, so the good news is that this new version is completely free for you. However, unlike PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, which automatically upgrade the original game to the Remastered version, you'll have to download a completely separate product on Switch 2.
This probably won't come as a huge surprise – it's generally the norm for Switch these days – but if you do happen to have the original game downloaded on your Switch 2 and you're sat twiddling your thumbs waiting for it to update, hold your horses.
Just head into the Switch 2 eShop, locate the new Remastered version, and you'll be able to download it at no extra cost. Pre-installations also began a few days back, so if you do it now, the game will fully download ready for its release on the 29th. For those who own a physical copy of the original, a previous notice from CDPR's customer support notes that you'll be able to claim your free upgrade on launch day.

According to Marcin Momot, community and social media director at CDPR, the download size is 50GB, though looking at our pre-installed game, its actual size is a touch smaller at 48.5GB.
