Roronoa Zoro is one of the three strongest fighters within the ranks of the Straw Hat Pirates. He is the master swordsman whose goal is to become the World's Strongest Swordsman by dethroning Dracule Mihawk in the process. Zoro possesses tremendous capabilities as a swordsman, but for any swordsman to reach the top, mastering Haki is incredibly important. For those who are a cut above the rest, the Color of the Supreme King is a major requirement, and up until now, Zoro had no control over it.
Now, 11 long years after he first debuted Haki in One Piece, Zoro finally has full control over a new type of Haki, called Conqueror's Haki, or the Color of the Supreme King, which is also wielded by Monkey D. Luffy, his very own captain.
One Piece chapter 1194, which was officially released on September 27, 2026, in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 44, was significant for the character arc of Roronoa Zoro. This chapter was almost exclusively focused on the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates, and it showed Zoro trying his absolute hardest to coat his blades in the Color of the Supreme King, also known as Conqueror's Haki. In One Piece chapter 1152, Scopper Gaban revealed to Zoro that he had access to Conqueror's Haki. At the same time, Gaban reprimanded Zoro, stating to him that if he couldn't even control his own Haki, he had no business trying to make Luffy the Pirate King. While this stung for Zoro, it also held a certain degree of truth, and Zoro has tried relentlessly to finally gain full access to this new type of Haki.

Previously, Zoro possessed two types of Haki, which were shown to us first in One Piece chapter 778 in the Dressrosa arc, released officially on March 2, 2015, in Weekly Shonen Jump Issue 14. In this chapter, Zoro fought against Pica and unleashed, for the very first time, his Armament Haki to finally dispose of him, alongside his Observation Haki. After that, in the Wano Country arc, Zoro unknowingly tapped into Conqueror's Haki when he was fighting against Kaido. This happened in One Piece chapter 1010, released on April 12, 2021. In One Piece chapter 1033, when Zoro was fighting against King, he allowed Enma to drain as much Haki from his body as possible and tapped into something called the King of Hell form.

This allowed Zoro to bring out maximum Conqueror's Haki and Armament Haki from his body, but he had no control over it, which meant that this Haki was not at full power. Now, in One Piece chapter 1194, Zoro has fully mastered Conqueror's Haki and knows how to control it as well as coat himself with it. This boosts Zoro's offensive and defensive capabilities greatly and, most importantly, allows him to deal damage to the immortals of the One Piece world.
When it comes to Haki, the Straw Hat Pirates have been rather underwhelming. After the 2-year time skip, only three members of the Straw Hat Pirates had access to Haki. Luffy returned to Saboody, having mastered the basics of all three types of Haki, while Zoro and Sanji had mastered the basics of two types, those being the Color of Observation and the Color of Armament. For Roronoa Zoro, the last major Haki upgrade came 15 years ago in the Dressrosa arc, when he first tapped into Armament Haki. Since then, Oda has not given him any Haki-based power-up, and the same applies to Sanji as well. Now, after 15 long years, Zoro finally attains his first major Haki upgrade, as he has now tamed the Color of the Supreme King and learned to coat his own body in it.
