Feet as Cold as Ice is an optional side quest in The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine that will have Geralt aid a man scared to get married to his betrothed. While couples usually would talk about their feelings, Francois has decided to battle a Grottore in the hopes of postponing the wedding, but this challenging monster might result in Jacquette becoming a widow before they're even married! Below, you'll find how to beat the Grottore, and the best outcome for Francois!
Find Jacquette, who is staring southward from the Nilfgaardian Embassy in Beauclair, the west district of the city (as shown on the map above). Jacquette requests your help in locating her betrothed, and this will begin the Feet as Cold as Ice side quest. You are free to try and haggle for better pay, but you'll get 300 Crowns as a default.
Once you claim the quest, head northwest of Beauclair Palace to find Francois le Goff by a cave. You can introduce yourself to Francois with any title you see fit, but the important dialogue is to say to him, "Maybe I can help?" If you don't select this dialogue, he will go into the cave alone and die.
As you and Francois enter the cave, you'll want to take a left. The Grottore is nowhere to be seen, so you'll have to use your Witcher Senses to examine the plants, the body of an infant, the blood trail, a crib of bones, and a wall covered in vines. After investigating these items, Geralt will deduce that the Grottore is a Spriggan.
You now need to access the Bestiary and read the Grottore entry in the Relics section. From here, use Igni to burn the flowers in the cave to lure out the monster. Be careful, as the Grottore will summon Archespores during the fight!
The Grottore is weak to silver swords, Dimeritium Bombs, Relic Oils, and Igni, so make sure you're setting it on fire while you're hacking and slashing it with your silver sword. The Grottore hits hard, so utilize Quen shields and dodges to stay alive, and try to keep the Grottore's attention on you so that Francois doesn't die!
When the Grottore is dead, Geralt has two options to say to Francois:
I recommend sending Francois back to Beauclair to marry Jacquette, as all these excuses around adventure and monster hunting will just result in his grizzly death. In Beauclair, he's safe and loved, and he clearly likes Jacquette, he just has cold feet about getting married.
