The wider Game of Thrones TV universe is between major releases right now, not unlike the original A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin and the next book The Winds of Winter, but Blood of the Dragon is giving fans something to do in the meantime. Indeed, the wait for House of the Dragon season 4 and the next season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms may mean a weaker Fall 2026 period, but definitely not "weak." Releases like Game of Thrones: Conquest and The Blood of the Dragon carry the torch for the franchise right now.
Game of Thrones: Conquest has been doing exactly that for years, too. The mobile strategy game launched for Android and iOS in 2017 and continues to receive updates, allowing it to keep expanding alongside the world of A Song of Ice and Fire. Its latest update turns the spotlight toward one of the most important parts of Targaryen history: the Dragonseeds. And all of that connects to The Blood of the Dragon.
The Dragonseeds are the common-born and illegitimate descendants of Targaryens and other Valyrian bloodlines who can potentially form a bond with dragons. House of the Dragon introduced viewers to several of them, including Hugh Hammer and Ulf, as Rhaenyra Targaryen searched for people capable of claiming the dragons left without riders during the growing conflict between the Targaryens. Aspects of that story are now being brought into Game of Thrones: Conquest through the Dragonseeds Arc, which runs from September 1 through September 25.
Players can obtain new Dragonseed gear, recruit Alys Rivers and Hugh Hammer as new heroes, and acquire the Ever-Ready Warrior Saddle as new dragon gear. Braavosi Loan trophies can also be exchanged for prizes through the Recipes tab in the Inventory while the Battle of Yunkai or Bay of Dragons events are active (and they need to be spent before Bay of Dragons ends).
Game of Thrones: Conquest's Dragonseeds update is the wider umbrella that hosts several other events under it. The Blood of the Dragon runs now through September 5, with the title update focused on crafting gear, while another PvE event is going on through September 3. The Blood of the Dragon is the first of many events coming to the Game of Thrones game throughout September as part of the larger Dragonseeds update.
Luckily, this approach helps ensure Game of Thrones: Conquest does not run out of content, as it is smartly pulling from House of the Dragon now, playing with the lore, and keeping itself open to future releases. Almost certainly, its door has been left open to door that with other franchise releases as well.
