As a quick reminder, the newly remastered version of The Witcher 3 is an update to the current Complete Edition for the RPG, and that patch will be around 45GB in size.
CD Projekt Red executive Marcin Momot revealed the download size of the update across all platforms in time for the weekend just gone, confirming PS5 and Xbox Series X|S players will have the same amount of data to download. It's a bit bigger on Nintendo Switch 2 (50GB), but the same on PC.

The developer previously confirmed this new remastered version of the game essentially replaces the existing Complete Edition — it's not going to be a separate, standalone version. Therefore, all your save data and Trophy data will remain and work for the remastered version.
With so many new releases during this September and October period, I'm not sure returning to The Witcher 3 is the best thing to do right now, but another playthrough sounds like a great way to spend your Christmas break. With the new expansion Songs of the Past coming out in 2027, you can get a save fully completed with the current content and ready to dive into that DLC next year.
