Future Gohan is far and away the most tragic character in the Dragon Ball franchise. The super-sized November 2026 edition of V-Jump will include a bonus card for the Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World trading card game. Readers will receive a Blue-type Future Gohan card showing his final moments before his fateful showdown with Future Androids 17 and 18. In the Dragon Ball Z anime, Future Gohan briefly gains the upper hand over 17 before 18 joins in. In the Dragon Ball manga, 17 reveals he'd be holding back his full power all along and swiftly murders Gohan.
Future Gohan's On Play skill gives any other "Future" cards in the Battle Area +2 Ki, while his alternate skill increases your power by 10,000 if Future Trunks is your deck Leader and you intentionally remove a Battle Card from the Battle Area with a Skill. Despite Dragon Ball Super Card Game Fusion World having a digital release, the Future Gohan card will be exclusive to the physical release of V-Jump's November 2006 issue.
Hope is the underlying theme that drives the Cell Saga forward, and it's ultimately Goku's hope in Gohan that saves the world from Cell. Trunks himself is motivated by the hope that giving Goku medicine for the Heart Virus can at least create one peaceful timeline for humanity. While Trunks is a living embodiment of hope, it's a trait he inherited from his mentor, Gohan. Despite being the only Z-Fighter left standing when the Androids first came, Gohan never stopped fighting.
For over a decade, Future Gohan single-handedly protected the Earth as best he could against foes significantly more powerful than him. Even though Gohan believed he would never be able to surpass Super Saiyan Goku's Power Level when he fought Frieza, he had hope that Future Trunks could one day surpass him and defeat the Androids – a hope that eventually comes true and drives Trunks to train with Vegeta in the main timeline. Future Gohan is a minor part of Dragon Ball Z's story, but his presence can be felt deep inside Future Trunks' characters.
