Fall has arrived, and Disney Dreamlight Valley is welcoming the seasonal change with a massive spooky update. The Season of Scares update is the next big one planned for the valley, and it’s got a lot to explore, so you’ll want to know exactly when it’s arriving.
There’s lots of frightful and festive fun packed into this update, including new characters, events, items, and so much more to uncover. If you’re eager to dive in as soon as possible, here’s the exact time and date when the Season of Scares update will be released for Disney Dreamlight Valley.
The Season of Scares update will officially be released on Sept. 23 in DDV. Although the date is confirmed, an exact launch time isn’t. The precise release time is never shared ahead of release, but luckily, DDV has a very reliable schedule for all major updates, which means this one will almost certainly go live at 8am CT.
Although the update goes live across all platforms at the exact same time, the rollout sometimes varies a bit by platform, especially for Nintendo Switch players, as it tends to take a bit to arrive there. Still, the overall launch time is the same for everyone, so we’ve set our countdown to the expected time.

Oogie Boogie arrives with the Season of Scares update on Sept. 23 in DDV. However, unlike most valley villagers, the process for unlocking him is time-gated, which means you cannot actually recruit him on this date. Instead, you have to work through a series of missions that unlock weekly for a total of six weeks. Once all of these quests are done, you can then unlock Oogie Boogie as a permanent valley villager.
