Signing a good defensive midfielder can make almost everything else in Career Mode feel a whole lot easier. Whether you want someone to sit in front of the back four or a player who can win the ball back from the opposition and immediately start an attack, there are some excellent young CDMs in EA Sports FC 27.
One of the things that really stands out about the Career Mode in EA Sports FC 27 is how many of the best defensive midfielders are still teenagers or in their early twenties. Some of the players below can therefore lock down the CDM spot in your starting eleven for well over a decade, or turn a tidy profit when the time comes to sell.
Only players aged 25 or under at the start of the 26-27 season will be considered for this list.
For a lower-league team, Dion Hofmeister has a huge 25-point potential rise, although a 58 starting rating means you'll probably need to ease him into your starting eleven rather than throw him in at the deep end. Mussa Kaba starts four points higher and can reach 85, so may be a slightly better option, while Kennet Eichhorn is the best long-term player of the three with 88 potential.
For a mid-table Career Mode team, Marc Bernal is probably the most interesting project, with 10 points of growth from 78 to 88. Ayyoub Bouaddi and Laura Blindkilde Brown are also solid options. Both start at 80 and can also reach 88, so either can go straight into a good team and then gradually improve from there.
For a top-of-the-table team, Moisés Caicedo and Ryan Gravenberch are the obvious ready-made options at 86 and 85 respectively. Claire Hutton is the more interesting long-term signing, though. Her starting rating is only 81, but with 10 points of growth, she has the potential to become the best CDM in EA Sports FC 27.
