Black Clover is making a grand return in October 2026 as the anime makes a comeback with Season 2 following a 5-year-long wait. Ever since the initial announcement, Black Clover Season 2 has been highly anticipated, and it is set to dive straight into the Spade Kingdom Raid arc and give us many big battles in the upcoming episodes. Upon the initial announcement of Black Clover Season 2, it was reported that the season would cover the Spade Kingdom Raid arc and the Hino Country arc, while leaving Judgment Day for the next installment.
However, now, it's been officially confirmed that Black Clover Season 2 Part 2 is titled “The final Season,” which practically confirms that Black Clover Season 3 is officially canceled and that Judgment Day will be included in the 26-episode season instead. In other words, Black Clover Season 2 will conclude the series as a whole, which would mean that, much to the disappointment of the fans, Season 3 has been cancelled. It also raises many concerns about the state of the production of the season, and its pacing moving forward.
During Jump Festa 2026, which took place in December of last year, a big anime return was confirmed for Black Clover. Following the announcement of the manga reaching the climax, the series handled by Studio Pierrot decided to make a comeback. This was big news, as Black Clover had gone on hiatus in 2021 after the release of episode 170, concluding its previous weekly 4-year run.
Ever since the initial announcement, the release date of Black Clover Season 2 was a point of discussion among the fans. It was confirmed on September 3, 2026, that it would be released officially on October 3 with Black Clover Season 2, Episode 1. Since then, much more information has come to light. For one, Black Clover Season 2 is stated to be 26 episodes long and split into two cours. Seeing as 26 episodes isn’t too long, many thus assumed this season wouldn’t be the end of Black Clover. After all, Studio Pierrot still has three full-fledged arcs to adapt.
Sadly, it has already been indirectly confirmed that Black Clover Season 2, Part 2, would adapt Judgment Day and bring the series to a close. As Black Clover Season 2 is set to put an end to the franchise, there will obviously not be a next season. This confirms that Black Clover Season 3 is not happening, at least not based on what we know so far.
Fans may be wondering how Black Clover Season plans to end the series. There is still quite a long way to go until Studio Pierrot catches up with the Black Clover manga and reaches chapter 392 of Tabata's story. Irrespective of what Studio Pierrot will or won't adapt, we now know that Black Clover Season 2 is the end. On September 24, 2026, Black Clover Season 2 announced a split-cour season, with the second part being officially named the “Final Season.” If the second part of Black Clover wasn't meant to be the end, then this naming would make no sense. With the "Final Season” label, Studio Pierrot has made it clear the Judgment Day arc will be included among the second batch of episodes.
With that in mind, as Black Clover Season 2, Part 1 debuts on October 3, 2026, we can expect this first part to run its course until the beginning of January 2027. It is already confirmed that Black Clover Season 2, Part 2 is coming in 2027, but the exact release date is unknown. The second cour of Black Clover could commence just a couple of weeks after the finale of Part 1. There is also, however, the chance that there will be a short wait of a couple of months for the full release of the final cour.
Because Black Clover Season 3 is no longer happening, based on current reports, 2027 will mark the end date of Black Clover as a whole. The manga already ended on May 1, 2026, in Jump GIGA Spring Edition, and the anime is officially following suit. At most, the series could be extended until 2028 if Black Clover Season 2, Part 2 debuts later in the year.
